I was fortunate to have been able to take a painting trip to Brittany in June 2022. This trip had been planned for 2020, and like so many plans in life, had to be postponed. The same for 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Brittany 2022 was definitely worth waiting for! Seven women artists departed from various states in the U.S. and met up in the beach town of Saint Cast on the northern Brittany coast. We had a mini-castle to ourselves and were chauffeured by the expert art trek organizer, Mathieu Brousses of Provence. We had \u201cover the top\u201d dinners in our castle dining room, prepared on site by our chef, Fabien “the \u201cFabulous\u201d. Breakfasts were typical French offerings: yogurt, breads, pastries, boiled egg, Brittany butter and coffee. Lunch was often in a restaurant of our choice with many offering the local galettes and crepes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Painting sites were usually beaches: Dinard, St. Malo, or \u00a0\u201cour own beach\u201d, which was five minutes walking distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By special invitation, we were treated to a visit to the Sennelier factory in Dinard by Director Yves Marie Salonson. There we watched young people assemble brushes by hand and see the making of Sennelier paint (acrylic, oil, watercolor). This was all topped off by an artistically presented lunch in the Sennelier \u201cboard room\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Was there a down-side to any of this expedition? I can\u2019t think of any, except that our castle owner, Gilles, would offer us  rides in his \u201962 Jaguar, interrupting our painting en plein air! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
