We were told that if you got an early start, you could cross the sunny, rocky shale part of the trail while temperatures were comfortable.<\/p>\n<p>We began at the trailhead at MacDonald Creek, getting up to the chalet about noon. After lunch we were ready to go exploring again. On the way, I had photographed this rider getting across the creek on horseback, leading a packhorse.
