On a tour that followed the history of the French Huguenots through parts of France, brought us to the small hill town of Poete Laval. There had once been a worship center for the Huguenots who were the followers of John Calvin at the beginning of the Reformation. As events heated up in France, most places of worship were destroyed, leaving many of the Huguenots to go \u201cinto the desert\u201d to secretly hold services. The worship hall in Poete Laval survives as it had a dual purpose, thus, was left untouched. As we walked up the hill to get to the town, I was entranced by the fortress wall that was ornamented with spring flowers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
