Even in the coldest of weather, I have enjoyed walking through the Maidenrock area. My first venture there in winter, it was sunrise and the temps were -5 F. I was dressed in layers but my camera’s batteries were dying regularly. Fortunately, I had two extras. When all three failed, I resorted to using my cell phone. I was intrigued by the sunlight penetrating the frost on the sage, the variety of cool blues on the snow, with touches of “warm” hues where sunlit. The rock formations were spectacular with color and shadow contrasts.
