The inspiration for this “landscape of the mind” came from a painting trip to Greece one summer, followed by another trip to Turkey the following year. The Roman Empire leaves its indelible mark in all of the Mediterranean world and beyond. The building in the background is the Porch of the Maidens found on the Acropolis. The other columns, figures and archway were found in Greece and Turkey. Earthquakes and wars have taken their toll on such historic remnants, but there is beauty and mystery to be found in even the broken relics.
