A trip to Israel brought so many realizations to my understanding of the Holy Land. One cannot absorb all that one has seen and I can understand the reason for repeated trips to this part of the world. I used the olive trees as models for the Garden of Gethsemane, and attempted to make the trees appear to suffer along with Jesus who prayed in the garden during the night before his arrest. He knew what was ahead and prayed for “this cup to pass”, yet, he relinquished his will to the plan of salvation that the Father had for humankind. Rather hidden, you can find a couple sleeping apostles.
