Marcus Daly was one of the three “Copper Kings” of Butte fame. His statue stands at the top of the steep hill, Park St., at the entrance to the Montana Tech campus. Much has been written about Butte’s mining history and its copper kings.
In this composite, I wanted to show many of the historic buildings and mining related images. Visitors to Butte sometimes stumble on the uptown and, inevitably, they say they will return and spend more time here: viewing historic buildings, headframes, the Mining Museum, the Archives and the variety and interest of the rich and not-so-rich homes.
