The landscape is an interpretation of Butte, Montana’s mineyards. The actual gallows or headframe is one of the actual ones that dominant the landscape of uptown. They were used when mining was an underground copper mining operation. Butte is referred to as “the richest hill on earth” and also as “a mile high and a mile deep”.
