Just past the shady area where I walk on the East Ridge, you come to an apple tree, that is completely surrounded by aspens. Unless there are apples or blossoms on the tree, you would probably not notice it as the aspens have almost crowded it out. When there were trains running on the tracks, someone may have thrown out an apple core and in its rather wet environment, it may have taken root on its own.
